Teams forming for Walk a Mile in Her Shoes fundraiser

Open Arms Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Services will present its sixth annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event April 26 at Riverside Park. Registration will begin at 10:30 a.m., with an opening ceremony at 11:30 a.m.
Hancock County men, women and boys will walk one mile in women’s high-heeled shoes to raise awareness and educate the community about domestic violence and sexual assault.
Open Arms is seeking teams made up of individuals or representatives of businesses and organizations, as well as volunteers.
This year, there will also be an option to be a “virtual walker.”
The family-friendly event will feature a free Kids Zone, with face painting, arts and crafts tables, an inflatable bounce house and a visit by Spongebob. Food vendors, massage stations and sponsor areas will be set up throughout Riverside Park. Prizes and awards will be given during an awards ceremony immediately following the walk.
To register as a walker, virtual walker, team or volunteer, visit or call Jodi DeVore at Open Arms at 419-420-9261.
The event is sponsored by the Union Bank Co.
