Hospital auxiliary pledges $450K to Cancer Care Center

The Blanchard Valley Hospital Auxiliary has pledged $450,000 to the new Blanchard Valley Cancer Care Center.
The pledge will be filled over three years.
Elizabeth Candler, auxiliary president, will present a check signifying the pledge to Kimberly Benson, director of oncology services, at the hospital’s annual volunteer recognition banquet Thursday.
Candler said most people have been affected by cancer in some way, including many members of the auxiliary, and the donation is “our heartfelt gesture to make a difference in the lives of those who battle this disease.”
The banquet will also honor auxiliary members for their years of service and volunteer hours contributed. Auxiliary members gave more than 34,000 hours of service working in more than 30 areas throughout the hospital in 2013.
The Blanchard Valley Hospital Auxiliary is a group of more than 550 volunteers who give service and raise funds for Blanchard Valley Hospital. Since 1968, the auxiliary has raised nearly $4 million for the hospital through gift shop sales, Nearly New Shop sales and fundraisers.
