Livestock judging held

The Hancock County 4-H general livestock judging contest was held recently at the University of Findlay Animal Science Center with 96 participants.
Youths from Hancock, Wood and Fulton counties participated. Members practiced livestock evaluation skills as they judged six classes of four animals each which included breeding heifers, market steers, market hogs, breeding gilts, market lambs and breeding ewes. The process teaches youths what kinds of structure and genetics to select for when raising livestock.
First- through third-place winners were:
Junior Individuals: Sami Roth, Gold Star, first place; Evelyn Waltz, Country Critters, second place; Zach Romero, Northwest Stars, third place.
Intermediate Individuals: Katelynn Yant, Country Critters, first place; Aaron Rider, Northwest Stars, second place; Seth Leader, Northwest Stars, third place.
Senior Individuals: Michaela Breece, His Kids, first place; Hayley Waltz, Country Critters, second place; Kenna Schmehl, Country Critters, third place.
Out-of-County Individuals: Logan Brown, Wood County, first place; Garrett Tuck, Wood County, second place; Lane Kemnen, Wood County, third place.
Junior Teams: Zach Bryan, Seth Leader, Aaron Rider and Kaplan Threet, first place; Amanda Green, Alyson Kettels, Madelyn Wolfarth and Katelynn Yant, second place; Matt Roth, Sami Roth and Blake Wilson, third place
