WHARTON — A fundraiser for the Wharton Community Park will be held June 28.
A barbecued chicken dinner, catered by Harlan’s, will be served from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Wharton Park shelter house. Dinners are $8 and include a half chicken, scalloped potatoes, applesauce and bottled water. Carry-out will be available. Barbecue proceeds will be used for park maintenance and improvements.
Tickets for the dinner are available from park board members Naneen Kotterman at 419-458-2683, Tina or Kasey Balduf at 419-458-5285 and Nancy Grubbs at 419-458-1118.
Living Water will present music from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and the Wyandot Area Ham Radio Operator Organization (Wahoo), will speak with visitors.
At 9:30 p.m., “The Lego Movie” will be shown in the park. Free popcorn will be available. Families should bring lawn chairs or a blanket. If it rains, the movie will be shown inside the shelter house.
The Wharton Festival will not be held this year due to a scheduling conflict. The tentative date for next year’s festival is July 18, 2015.
