Read for Life to train tutors

Read for Life will hold tutor training from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. July 18 in the Lindamood Room at the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library.
Read for Life is an adult literacy program that provides free reading and math instruction to adults with low literacy skills or who are working toward a GED.
Tutors should be literate and able to relate to a wide variety of people. No professional training is needed. Tutors are asked to provide one to two hours of instruction a week and to make a one-year commitment to the program.
Read for Life estimates that approximately 8 to 10 percent of adults in Hancock County cannot read well enough to function in society.
Anyone 18 and older who lives or works in Hancock County is eligible for help by calling 419-425-3515. For more information, or to register for the volunteer training, contact Kristy Szkudlarek, interim administrative director, at 419-425-3515 or
