The Arts Partnership of Greater Hancock County is preparing to hold auditions for Youtheatre’s winter production of the musical “Disney’s Alice in Wonderland JR.”
In this classic story, Alice’s journey begins innocently enough as she chases the White Rabbit. Her adventures become increasingly more strange as she races the Dodo Bird, gets tied up with Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, raps with a bubble-blowing Caterpillar and beats the Queen of Hearts at her own game. The production will include an on-stage cast of approximately 30 youth in grades 4-6, as well as opportunities for youth to participate in the production’s technical crew.
Students wishing to participate must register for an audition and complete the required forms at artspartnership.com/alice-in-wonderland-jr-auditions.
Auditions will be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 3 and 4, with registration opening at 5:30, at the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts. Those auditioning for the on-stage cast must come prepared for movement. Youth interested in the technical crew only need to drop off materials during auditions and speak briefly with the technical staff.
The show will be co-directed by Julie Lane and Lindsay Taylor. Isaac Steinhour is technical director, Bryan Perkins is assistant technical director and Debra Searls is costumer. Performances are slated for 7 p.m. Feb. 24 and 25, and 2 p.m. Feb. 26 at First Presbyterian Church.
