A community Christmas party will unite music lovers with the philanthropically minded.
A Merry rocKING Christmas Concert, featuring live music, drama and a local DJ, will kick off at 8 p.m. Friday in the Lincoln Elementary gym. Proceeds will benefit Christian Clearing House, a Findlay charity that provides emergency financial assistance to Hancock County residents.
“It’s really just a Christmas party to celebrate the season, with an open door to all,” says event organizer Nate Stults.
Stults got the idea for a community Christmas concert about a year ago, and says this year’s event will be a “soft launch” for what he expects to be a larger concert next December. He says concertgoers can expect new twists on traditional Christmas songs, as well as some classic versions. He welcomes local artists and bands to attend Friday to get a feel for what the event is all about, in hopes they’ll sign on for the 2018 show.
A DJ himself, Stults is presenting the concert through his mobile DJ, audio recording and videography service, MicDrop Productions.
Stults is also associate pastor at Findlay First Church of the Nazarene. In January he’ll join Christian Clearing House’s development team, focused on creative ways to engage the community. The church of the Nazarene, for which Stults has worked for the past five years, is a partner organization of Christian Clearing House.
“I believe in their mission and I like the way they do things,” he says of the charity. “Their organization touches the entire community.”
A donation box collecting household goods for Christian Clearing House will be available the night of the concert.
Tickets to A Merry rocKING Christmas Concert are $15 presale and $20 at the door, which includes snacks and beverages. Advance tickets can be purchased at www.merryrockingchristmas.eventbrite.com.
