Donations are being accepted for the 10th annual Don’t Stress Over the Dress program, which provides free prom dresses, accessories and services to girls who otherwise could not afford them.
In 2017 alone, 255 dresses, along with shoes, jewelry, purses and other prom-related items, were distributed to 345 girls from 82 schools in Ohio. Gowns are available in all sizes and styles, many with the tags still on.
Donations will be accepted through March 5 at 1700 Fostoria Ave., Suite 200 in Findlay (call Denise Foley at 419-429-3445); Carey Quarry, 1794 County Highway 99, Carey (call Carla Ratliff at 419-396-7641); Chopin Hall, 1800 N. Blanchard St., Suite 125, Findlay (419-422-6401); and the Findlay High School office, 1200 Broad Ave. (419-425-8298).
Donations are tax deductible.
Wish-list items include long and short formal gowns, preferred to be no older than five years and dry-cleaned; purses, fancy/costume jewelry, shoes, wraps/shawls, unopened hosiery, makeup, perfume and hair products; and hair and cosmetology services, tanning packages, manicures, pedicures and garment bags.
Dress distribution will be 3-8 p.m. March 9; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 10; and 1-4 p.m. March 11 at the Findlay Village Mall.
Each girl attending is allowed to receive one dress and may bring one person, either a friend or parent, to help her shop. An adult may not shop for a girl without the student being present.
