A Better Way @ Ritz Auditorium at Old Main

The second annual “A Better Way” program will be held from 2:30-6:30 p.m. today at the Ritz Auditorium in Old Main at the University of Findlay.

The program is free and open to the public. It will include a multi-media show featuring informational graphics and music. A presentation on the benefits of cannabis and hemp will begin at 4:20 p.m., with a question and answer session to follow. Information on the Green Party will also be available.

Scotts Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run Competition @ Marathon Diamonds

The City of Findlay Recreation Department will host a free Scotts Major League Baseball pitch, hit and run competition for area youth from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at The Marathon Diamonds, 3430 N. Main St.

Boys and girls will be divided into four age divisions: 7 and 8; 9 and 10; 11 and 12; and 13 and 14. Athletes can choose to compete in either baseball or softball divisions. All participants should bring a copy of their birth certificate and have a parent/guardian fill out a registration and waiver prior to participating.

Powers of Attorney Seminar @ Putnam County District Library -- Columbus Grove branch

A seminar on the powers of attorney and trustee investment will be offered twice this month in Putnam County.

The free program is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. April 23 at the Putnam County District Library’s Columbus Grove branch, and at 6:30 p.m. April 26 at the main library in Ottawa. Speaker is Joseph Schroeder, attorney at Schroeder, Blankemeyer and Schroeder, LLP.

Master Gardener Volunteer Training Course @ OSU-Lima

The Allen County and Hardin County OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteers will partner to host a Master Gardener Volunteer training course for new Master Gardener Volunteers this spring.

The Ohio State University Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program provides intensive training in horticulture to interested Ohio residents who then volunteer their time assisting with educational programs and activities for Ohio residents through their local Ohio State University Extension county office.

Volunteers are not required to have gardening skills or knowledge; but a passion for learning about gardening and sharing this knowledge with others is a must.

Classes will be held on the OSU Lima Campus beginning with orientation on Tuesday, March 6 and classes being held each Tuesday and Thursday from 6-9 p.m. beginning March 13 and continuing through April 26.

Silver Blades Try It Out Days @ The Cube

The Findlay Silver Blades Skating Club will host its spring “try it out” days from 6-6:45 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.

The free ice skating clinic is open to new skaters ages 4 through adult and will introduce participants to basic ice skating skills. Skate rental will be available for a nominal fee.

Classes start April 17 and will be held from 7:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Both morning and evening classes are available, with child care provided.

The program through the National Fatherhood Initiative is designed to nurture self-awareness, compassion and a sense of responsibility.

Participants will explore Ancestry DNA, Family Tree DNA, National Geographic DNA and other test kits.
