Allen County Fair @ Allen County Fairgrounds

LIMA — Ventriloquist Darci Lynne, an “America’s Got Talent” winner, headlines entertainment at the Allen County Fair, which opens Friday and continues through Aug. 25 at the Allen County Fairgrounds in Lima.

“Darci Lynne and Friends” will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday. Tickets for the show range from $30 to $55, with $100 VIP seating available. The ticket price does not include general gate admission to the fair.

In other entertainment, a pair of tribute bands will be featured Sunday night. New Frontiers, featuring Journey songs, and Fleetwood 2 The Max will headline a free show beginning at 7 p.m.

Other traditional fair events include the Kewpee Showcase Of Bands, harness racing, a demolition derby, tractor pulls and a livestock scramble.

Daily entertainment programs include the Bengal Tigers, BMX Stunt Show, Jungle Island Zoo, Bear Hollow Wood Carvers and Crazy Mike V as the Village Idiot.

Daily admission to the fair is $7 for those 7 and older. Admission is free to those under 7.

Season passes, which are good for all nine days of the fair, also can be purchased. Prior to Friday, the season pass costs $30 for those 10 and over, and $15 for those ages 7-9. After the fair begins the season pass is $35 for those 10 and over, and $20 for those ages 7-9.

All-day wristbands for amusement rides are $25. Prior to the fair, wristband vouchers are $20. Special $15 wristbands are available from noon to 5 p.m. Monday and noon to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23.

FRIDAY

  • 1 p.m. — Open class first flower show, Youth Activities Building.
  • 3:30 p.m. — OSU alumni band, grandstand plaza.
  • 4 p.m. — 168th Allen County Fair ribbon-cutting ceremony, AAA Grandstand Plaza Stage; Junior fair silent auction opens, Youth Exhibits Building.
  • 6:30 p.m. — OSU alumni band.
  • 7 p.m. — Kewpee Showcase Of Bands, grandstand; The Hoppers, gospel tent.

SATURDAY

  • 10 a.m. — Open class bees, honey, seeds, grains, hay, vegetables, fruits judging, Ag and Fine Arts Building; 4-H dog obedience judging, show arena; Junior fair poultry judging, rabbit show arena.
  • 10:30 a.m. — Children Choosing Christ, gospel tent.
  • 1 p.m. — Allen County Horse Council IBRA/OGBRA/OMBRA Speed Show, Schmidthorst Pavilion.
  • 2 p.m. — Junior fair poultry showmanship, rabbit show arena.
  • 7 p.m. — Darci Lynne and Friends concert, grandstand; Jimmy Fortune, gospel tent.
  • 8 to 10 p.m. — Junior fair exhibitor dance, show arena.

SUNDAY

  • 9 a.m. — Open class rabbit show, commercial meat and fryers show and showmanship, show arena; Allen County Horse Council 4-H Youth Horse Show, Schmidthorst Pavilion.
  • 10:30 a.m. — Nondenominational worship service, gospel tent.
  • 12:30 p.m. — Junior fair poultry breed show, rabbit barn, followed by open class poultry show, poultry barn.
  • 5 p.m. — Open class guys and gals lead, show arena.
  • 5:45 p.m. — Junior fair rabbit king and queen crowning followed by junior fair fur, fryers, and market rabbit judging, rabbit barn.
  • 7 p.m. — New Frontiers/Fleetwood 2 The Max concert, grandstand; The Isaacs, gospel tent.

MONDAY

  • 8 a.m. — Junior fair market hog show, show arena.
  • 9 a.m. — Junior fair meat goat showmanship followed by meat breeding and market goat show, sheep show arena; Junior fair rabbit showmanship demonstrations, rabbit barn; Youth fishing derby, Roschman Park pond.
  • 11:30 a.m. — Open class wine challenge, Ag and Fine Arts Building.
  • Noon to 9 p.m. — Buck I Guy, Merchants Building and various locations on fairgrounds.
  • 1 p.m. — Junior fair rabbit quiz bowl, rabbit barn; Open class second flower show, Youth Activities Building.
  • 2 p.m. — Youth Day activities, picnic tent at Roschman Park; “Creepy” Critters, opposite Roschman Park shelter house; Bred and Fed Sheep Show, sheep show arena.
  • 3 p.m. — Junior fair breeding sheep show, sheep show arena.

  • 8 a.m. — Farrow to Finish followed by junior fair swine showmanship, open class best-dressed pig contest, peewee showmanship, women’s showmanship, men’s showmanship, champion of champions showmanship, and open class market hog show, all at show arena; Born and raised single fryer rabbit showmanship, rabbit barn.
  • 9 a.m. — Junior fair horse and pony show, Schmidthorst Pavilion; Junior fair dairy goat showmanship followed by dairy breeding and all other breeds, sheep show arena.
  • 11 a.m. — Demo Days, Ag and Fine Arts Building.
  • Noon to 8 p.m. — Taste of the Fair, midway.

  • 2 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. — Spiders, opposite Roschman Park shelter house.
  • 7 p.m. — Triumphant Quartet, gospel tent; Livestock scramble, grandstand (free admission).

SATURDAY

  • 9 a.m. — Open class dairy goat showmanship followed by open class dairy goat breeding show, sheep show arena; Baton and flag corps competition, grandstand (free admission).
  • 10 a.m. — 4th Annual Equine Country Club Bud Lauck Memorial Retro Horse Show, Schmidthorst Pavilion.
  • 10:30 a.m. — Children Choosing Christ, gospel tent.
  • Noon — Junior fair champion of all champions showmanship contest, show arena.
  • 1:30 p.m. — Kewpee Classic open prospect steer and heifer show, show arena.
