Christian Clearing House All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Breakfast @ DOCK at St. Marks United Methodist Church

Christian Clearing House will host an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the DOCK behind St. Marks United Methodist Church, 800 S. Main St.

The menu includes pancakes, sausage link, coffee and juice. The cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children 10 and younger. Tickets are available by calling the CCH office at 419-422-2222 or at the door.

All proceeds will benefit the ministries of Christian Clearing House, a nonprofit agency that helps Hancock County residents with emergency needs such as food vouchers, rent payments to prevent eviction, utility payments to prevent shutoff, prescription medications and other emergency needs.

Vanlue Athletic Boosters Comedy Fundtaiser @ Vanlue Community Park

The Vanlue Athletic Boosters will host their annual comedy night fundraiser Saturday in the shelter house at Vanlue Community Park. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the show will start at 8.

Headlining the show will be Steve Lind, a standup comedian from the Midwest who brings the perspectives of a husband and father of four boys. He has been seen on NBC and has opened for Tim Allen, Kathleen Madigan and Michael Winslow. The featured comedian for the show will be Dan Simon, whose quick-wit, fast-paced style of comedy covers a wide range of topics. The emcee for the evening will be local comedian Eddie Michaels.

Tickets are $12 in advance or $17 at the door. Proceeds will benefit the Vanlue Athletic Boosters and the student athletes at Vanlue High School. Contact Mike Edie at 419-348-9242 or email vanlue80@yahoo.com for tickets.

Walk A Mile In Her Shoes @ Riverside Park

Open Arms will present the 10th annual Walk A Mile In Her Shoes fundraiser April 28 at Riverside Park.

Men, women and children are welcome for this march to speak out against domestic violence and sexual assault, walking one mile in “her shoes” (high heels). On-site registration begins at 10:30 a.m., with an opening ceremony planned for 11:30.

Event organizers are seeking event sponsors, individual walkers, teams of walkers and volunteers. Signup is available online at www.openarmsfindlay.com, and community members also have the option to be a “virtual walker.”

Miss Ohio, Sarah Clapper, will join Findlay Mayor Lydia Mihalik as a guest judge for the day.

The event will also feature a free kids’ zone with face painting, arts and crafts and an inflatable bounce house, along with food vendors and massage stations. An awards ceremony will immediately follow the walk.

Runway: Posh Repurpose for Parks @ Marathon Center for the Performing Arts

Runway: Posh Repurpose for Parks is a unique event to build environmental awareness while raising funds for the Hancock Parks Foundation. This event showcases amazing fashions made from plastic bags, bottles, cans, etc.—materials that would otherwise be headed to the landfill. The designs were submitted to our contest for a chance to win a grand prize of $500 cash.

Join the Hancock Park District, Huntington Bank, Walmart and the Hancock County Solid Waste District at the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts for a fun-filled evening emceed by WFIN’s Chris Oaks. Doors open at 6 p.m.; show starts at 7 p.m. Guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres by The Baker’s Cafe and a coffee bar by We.Serve.Coffee, music, raffles, and a creative fashion show with audience participation!

Flag City Morning Rotary Kentucky Derby Gala @ Hancock Hotel

Flag City Morning Rotary will celebrate the 144th running of the Kentucky Derby with a gala planned for 6-10 p.m. May 5 inside the Hancock Hotel’s Blanchard Ballroom.

Games, raffles, a live auction, music, food and themed beverages will be offered. Attire is business casual, with hats and bow ties optional.

International Rett Syndrome Foundation Benefit Run/Walk @ E.A. Powell Elementary School

A run and walk to benefit the International Rett Syndrome Foundation is scheduled for May 6 at E.A. Powell Elementary School, 500 N. Main St., North Baltimore.

Rett syndrome is a disorder of the nervous system. The run/walk will support research and funding to find a cure.

The event will include a 5K run, a one-mile fun run and a one-mile walk along the Slippery Elm Trail. Registration will be held at the elementary school.

Packets for the 5K run can be picked up from 1-1:45 p.m. Packets for the fun run/walk can be picked up between 1 and 2 p.m. The fun run/walk will start at 2:45.

The entry fee is $20 for adults and $15 for high school students and younger. Participants can purchase a T-shirt for $10 while supplies last.

Awards will be provided for the top individuals in each age group, as well as the overall male and female runners.
