City Mission is hosting a red carpet movie premiere for “Same Kind of Different as Me” at 7 p.m. Wednesday at AMC Findlay 12, 906 Interstate Drive. The movie is based on a New York Times best-seller written by Ron Hall and Denver Moore with Lynn Vincent and stars Greg Kinnear, Renee Zellweger, Djimon Hounsou and Jon Voight. The film is about a homeless man who changes his community. There are 500 tickets available at $10 each. Tickets can be purchased at the City Mission from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays or at the Findlay Christian Book and Gift Store, 438 Tiffin Ave. Part of the proceeds will benefit the mission.

Selected students throughout Hancock County are joining forces with various local professionals to plan, promote and coordinate the Seventh Annual 5K Pumpkin Fun Run/Walk benefiting the Hancock Youth Leadership (HYL) program. The Pumpkin Run/Walk will be held Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Waterfall Pavilion at Riverside Park. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and the race begins at 9 a.m. Catch the pumpkin runner and be refunded your entry fee! The registration fee for those pre-registered before September 30th is $25, which will include a long-sleeved shirt, goody bag, treats and drinks. Race-day registration will be $30. Awards will be provided for the overall male and female finisher, plus the first and second place participants, male and female, in a variety of age groupings. Participants can register at www.findlayhancockchamber.com/hyl or pick up a registration form at the Chamber of Commerce office located at 123 E. Main Cross St., Findlay. All proceeds will benefit the Hancock Youth Leadership program.

The Van Buren Lions Club will host its 28th Apple Butter Fest and Craft Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 14. Apple butter and bean soup made by the club will be available. There will also be a craft show, quilt show, food vendors, children’s activities and vision screening for children. East of Cheyenne Band will be playing throughout the day. The North Baltimore Public Library will kick off its fall book sale with a members’ only preview sale from 5-7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The public sale will run from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday; 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday. On Saturday, plastic grocery bags will be available to fill for $4 each. All proceeds will benefit the library, located at 230 N. Main St., North Baltimore.

The Professional Disc Golf Association-sanctioned B Tier event will include two 18-hole rounds per player. An awards ceremony will be held following completion of the second round. The Northwest Ohio Railroad Preservation pumpkin train will take riders to a pumpkin patch where they can pick the pumpkin of their choice and place on the flat car for the ride back to the station. Pumpkin purchases are not required to take rides. Rides are $2 for adults, $1 for kids 12 and under; pumpkins cost $5.

The Tri-Moraine Audubon Society and Johnny Appleseed Park District will host a free nature walk at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 14 in Lawrence Woods, 13278 County Road 190, Kenton. Lawrence Woods is a 1,000-acre forest in Hardin County known for large, mature trees in swamp forests. A Junior Fair barn dance will be held from 5-10 p.m. Saturday in the Legacy Building at the Hancock County Fairgrounds. This family-friendly event is open to the community and will include line dancing, square dancing, games and refreshments. The cost is $10 per individual or $25 per family, with proceeds going to the capital improvement fund for a new Junior Fair pavilion. The Findlay Elks are presenting Purse Bingo, where one ticket includes 20 games of bingo, appetizers, door prizes and other games. Each game will feature a high-end designer brand purse as the prize, and attendees must be 18 or older to play. While there is no alcohol in the actual bingo event, there will be a pre-party at the members lounge next door to the banquet hall in which the players and their significant other can enjoy a libation.
