The annual Farmers’ Share Breakfast will be at 7:30 a.m. March 15 at Brugeman Lodge at Riverbend Recreation Area. The main speaker will be the winner of the local Future Farmers of America public speaking contest. In addition, 2018 inductees to the Hancock County Agricultural Hall of Fame will be recognized at the event, which is sponsored by the Agri-Business Committee of the Findlay-Hancock County Chamber of Commerce. The Cory-Rawson High School FFA and FCCLA will hold a second blood drive in memory of Cory-Rawson graduate and community member Jeff Augustine from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at the high school. Walk-ins are welcome, but scheduling is preferred; email Jacob Palte at palte@cory-rawson.org to set an appointment. The first Jeff Augustine memorial blood drive was held March 8, with an outstanding donor turnout and 22 units of blood collected.

Individuals diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease or other movement disorders are encouraged to attend free “Delay the Disease” exercise classes at Mennonite Memorial Home, 410 W. Elm St., Bluffton. Classes are held from 1-2 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays in the chapel and can accommodate those in wheelchairs. Developed by Ohio Health, the program can help participants move about with ease and confidence in a crowd, get out of bed or rise from a chair independently, improve handwriting, dress independently and regain a sense of moving with normality. A physician referral is required and, if falling has been an issue, a participant must be accompanied by someone during the classes. To register, call 419-358-1015, ext. 221.

The Citizens for Hancock DD, a nonprofit group devoted to aiding Hancock County individuals and families with developmental disabilities, will host a Harlan’s chicken dinner fundraiser March 15. The meal includes a half barbecue chicken, au gratin potatoes, baked beans and a dinner roll. Drive-thru meals will be available from 4-6 p.m. at Blanchard Valley Center, 1700 E. A support group for grandparents raising their grandkids and other children affected by addiction is forming in McComb. Grand Love, a program sponsored by the Family Resource Center of Northwest Ohio, premiered in Findlay last May. McComb organizer Deb Ewing said formation of the rural version has been in the works for the past year, with its first meeting set for Jan. 18. Meetings are open to people living in McComb and the surrounding area and will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. every Thursday in the McComb school library (enter through north front door #2). Meetings will be facilitated by Family Resource Center professionals, with an emphasis on peer support. Registration is not required, although those bringing kids are encouraged to call ahead so arrangements to provide child care can be made. The Allen County and Hardin County OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteers will partner to host a Master Gardener Volunteer training course for new Master Gardener Volunteers this spring. The Ohio State University Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program provides intensive training in horticulture to interested Ohio residents who then volunteer their time assisting with educational programs and activities for Ohio residents through their local Ohio State University Extension county office. Volunteers are not required to have gardening skills or knowledge; but a passion for learning about gardening and sharing this knowledge with others is a must. Classes will be held on the OSU Lima Campus beginning with orientation on Tuesday, March 6 and classes being held each Tuesday and Thursday from 6-9 p.m. beginning March 13 and continuing through April 26. A “Transitioning to Civilian Life” program with the Hancock County Veterans Service Office will be presented at the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Lindamood Room. Participants can learn from a few local veterans about the challenges and successes of their transition from service member to civilian life. Veterans and employers are welcome to attend to learn about the resources and tools available to them. Representatives from the Hancock County Veterans Service Office, the Ohio Department of Veterans Service Office of Employment, Education and Policy, and the Department of Labor Veterans Employment and Training Services will be in attendance.
