50 North is cooperating with The Armstrong Air and Space Museum in Wapakoneta, the hometown of Neil Armstrong, to present a new NASA series. Registration and a $2 fee are required for each program. All programs begin at 1 p.m. Dates and times include: • Sept. 17, “Apollo Program”: Apollo 11 was the first mission to land on the moon. Ever wonder what happened to the first 10 missions and Apollo 12-17? Registration is required by Sept. 13.

A watercolor painting class led by Jeanne Beutler will be offered from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Putnam County District Library, Ottawa. Participants will paint a beginner-level lighthouse scene. High school students and their parents can obtain information about United States military service academy nominations and the appointment process in a meeting at 7 p.m. Sept. 19 at Owens Community College — Findlay Campus. The meeting, to be in Education Center Conference Room 111, will be held by U.S. Rep. Bob Latta, R-Bowling Green. At the meeting, potential service academy candidates will be advised of the congressional nomination process and have the opportunity to meet with representatives from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York; U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland; U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colorado; and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York. Potential candidates may also obtain an application for a military service academy nomination at the meeting. Applications and additional information are available on Latta’s website at https://latta.house.gov/constituentservices/serviceacademynominations.htm Applications will be due Oct. 1, 2018.
