Area artists are being sought to create sidewalk art on Main Street in Findlay on Sept. 15. Chalk-A-Walk, sponsored by the Findlay Art League, is intended to be a fun event where teams of artists decorate the sidewalks downtown. Completed drawings will be judged and a $100 cash prize will be awarded in each of the following categories, including high school, college, business, friends and family, church and youth groups. Interested artists must assemble teams of three to five people and register at the Art League, 117 W. Crawford St., or online at findlayartleague.org. The cost is $10 per person. Registration and payment are required by Aug. 24. Teams may supply their own chalk or purchase chalk from the Art League. Participants must bring their own wipes, towels, water and other beverages, and be prepared to provide their own lunch. Several downtown restaurants will be offering Chalk-A-Walk specials. Participants should arrive at the Art League at 9 a.m., when they will be assigned a spot to draw. They may work until the contest ends at 6 p.m., then return to the Art League at 7, when awards will be announced. Professional chalk artist Jodi Hubbard will be giving classes Sept. 1. She will discuss introductory sidewalk chalk drawing from 10 a.m. to noon. A class on advanced drawing for ages 16 and older will be held from 1-3 p.m. The cost is $10 per person.
