Master Gardener Volunteer Training Course @ OSU-Lima

The Allen County and Hardin County OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteers will partner to host a Master Gardener Volunteer training course for new Master Gardener Volunteers this spring.

The Ohio State University Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program provides intensive training in horticulture to interested Ohio residents who then volunteer their time assisting with educational programs and activities for Ohio residents through their local Ohio State University Extension county office.

Volunteers are not required to have gardening skills or knowledge; but a passion for learning about gardening and sharing this knowledge with others is a must.

Classes will be held on the OSU Lima Campus beginning with orientation on Tuesday, March 6 and classes being held each Tuesday and Thursday from 6-9 p.m. beginning March 13 and continuing through April 26.

24/7 Dad @ First Step

A 12-session “24/7 Dad” fatherhood program will be offered at First Step, 1099 Columbus Ave., Fostoria.

Classes start April 17 and will be held from 7:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Both morning and evening classes are available, with child care provided.

The program through the National Fatherhood Initiative is designed to nurture self-awareness, compassion and a sense of responsibility.

Painting A Spring Scene @ Brugeman Lodge at Riverbend Recreation Area
Apr 25 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Painting a spring scene will be the second in the 2018 Hancock Park District seasonal painting series. The activity will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Brugeman Lodge at Riverbend Recreation Area.

Awakening Minds Art will provide step-by-step instruction for the activity. Necessary supplies will be provided, including an 11-inch by 14-inch stretched canvas. Light refreshments will be served.

Participants must be at least 16 years old. Register, with $30 per person, by 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at www.hancockparks.com under the “Programs & Activities” tab.

Understanding DNA Testing @ Putnam County District Library -- Ottawa

A program on DNA tests will be presented at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Putnam County District Library, Ottawa.

Participants will explore Ancestry DNA, Family Tree DNA, National Geographic DNA and other test kits.

Master Gardener Class @ North Baltimore Public Library

Vicki Gallagher, Wood/Lucas County Master Gardener, will present a class at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the North Baltimore Public Library.

Gallagher has over 20 years of experience as a Master Gardener and horticulturist.

Powers of Attorney Seminar @ Putnam County District Library -- Ottawa
Apr 26 @ 6:30 pm

A seminar on the powers of attorney and trustee investment will be offered twice this month in Putnam County.

The free program is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. April 23 at the Putnam County District Library’s Columbus Grove branch, and at 6:30 p.m. April 26 at the main library in Ottawa. Speaker is Joseph Schroeder, attorney at Schroeder, Blankemeyer and Schroeder, LLP.

Basket Weaving Class @ Putnam County District Library -- Continental branch
Apr 30 @ 6:00 pm

A two-part basket weaving class will be held at the Putnam County District Library’s Continental branch at 6 p.m. April 30 and May 7.

Participants will make a Mother’s Day flower basket with Linda Pollitz. There is a $16 fee. Supplies needed include a pair of scissors, 12 clip clothes pins, measuring tape, 5-gallon bucket, pencil, towels and a flat-head screwdriver. All other supplies are provided.
