Hold onto your seats and get ready to laugh as the Arts Partnership welcomes funny man Heywood Banks to Alexandria’s on Friday, Jan. 10. Limited tickets for the 9:30 p.m. show, a part of the Marathon Petroleum Corp. performing arts series, are available at The Arts Partnership, 618 S. Main St., by calling the box office at 419-422-4624.
Banks is equal parts genius and buffoon. This songwriter-comic-singer-poet-musician has become a cult hero and a pop icon, with a show that appeals to college students, adults, kids and grandparents. Heywood intersperses his humorous observations of life with twisted, inventive songs, sung and played in a variety of styles, from folk, to country, to rock, to pop, and beyond. One has to be pretty smart to get Heywood at his deepest level (he demands a high level of pop culture literacy), but one can also enjoy him just for his vocal style impersonations, musicianship and just plain silliness.
Banks has been featured in “Rolling Stone Magazine” and “People Magazine.” He won first place in the Johnnie Walker Comedy Search Contest. Heywood has also appeared on A&E’s “Evening at the Improv,” MTV’s “1/2 Hour Comedy Hour,” CNN’s “Hollywood Minute,” “Caroline’s Comedy Hour,” “Entertainment Tonight,” “Showtime Comedy Club Network,” “Dr. Demento Show,” “12th Annual HBO Young Comedians Special with Paul Rodriguez” and is a frequent guest on the national Bob and Tom radio show.
Tickets for the show are $20. Tables of eight may be reserved for $185. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact The Arts Partnership box office by calling 419-422-4624 or visit www.artspartnership.com. The Arts Partnership is located at 618 S. Main St., Findlay. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
