Today’s low temperature could be the coldest on record in Findlay for Jan. 6, if the forecast holds true.
The National Weather Service is predicting a low of 16 degrees below zero tonight, which is 3 degrees colder than the record low for the date.
The record, 13 degrees below, was set in 1924, according to the Water Pollution Control Center, which keeps the city’s weather records.
Tuesday also will be bitterly cold, with a predicted low of minus 4, but that would be several degrees short of breaking the record for Jan. 7 of 10 below zero, set in 1912, according to the records.
Jan. 2 and Jan. 3 last week were also cold days, but didn’t come close to breaking Findlay records. The lowest city temperature on record for Jan. 2 is minus 5 degrees, set in 1945, while last Thursday’s temperature only dipped to 7 degrees. The lowest temperature on record for Jan. 3 is minus 12, set in 1904, but temperatures only dropped to minus 4 on Friday.
