Weekend: Youtheatre to hold auditions for spring musical

The Arts Partnership of Greater Hancock County announces auditions for Youtheatre’s spring production of the musical, “Disney Aladdin JR.”
The Youtheatre production will include an on-stage cast of approximately 40 youths, grades 1 through 5. In addition, there are opportunities for youth to participate in the production’s technical crew. Youth assistant positions are available for students in grades 6 through 12 to work directly with the production’s creative and technical instructors.
Auditions for the on-stage cast will be held on Monday, Jan. 27 and Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 6 p.m. and are open to youth in grades 1 through 5. Those interested in the technical crew must drop off materials during auditions and speak briefly with the technical staff. All auditions and interviews will be held in the Great Room at First Presbyterian Church located at 2330 S. Main St., Findlay.
Students in grades 6 through 12 interested in working directly with the production’s creative and technical personnel as youth assistants need to complete applications and return them to The Arts Partnership no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 20. Applications are available online at www.artspartnership.com or at The Arts Partnership.
The Arts Partnership is pleased to announce that “Disney Aladdin JR.” is being co-directed by Julie Lane and Lindsay Taylor. Merv Schrock is technical director, Cathy Williams is costumer, and Megan Hall is set painter. The performances are slated for March 14 and 15 at 7 p.m. and March 16 at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Tickets are currently available at The Arts Partnership box office.
In the musical, a stage adaptation of the Disney hit film, Princess Jasmine, Genie and Aladdin embark on an adventure filled with magic and mayhem. The Academy award-winning score includes favorite songs like “A Whole New World,” “One Jump Ahead” and “A Friend Like Me.”
“Disney Aladdin JR.” is presented through special arrangement with and all authorized performance materials are supplied by Music Theatre International, New York, New York.
All students in grades 1 through 5 who wish to audition or interview must register for an audition date and complete the required forms which can be found online at www.artspartnership.com or can be picked up at The Arts Partnership office at 618 S. Main St. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Completed forms need to be returned at the time of audition or interview. A tentative rehearsal schedule is also available online and potential participants are encouraged to review the schedule prior to making a commitment to participate.
Students only need to attend one audition or interview. Those auditioning for the on-stage cast need to come prepared for movement. Youth interested in the technical crew only need to drop off materials during auditions and speak briefly with the technical staff.
