North Baltimore officials to hold meeting on EMS

NORTH BALTIMORE — North Baltimore officials have scheduled a meeting today to gather public input about the village’s emergency medical service.
The meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Wolfe Community Room at North Baltimore Public Library.
According to village officials, over the past several years the North Baltimore Emergency Medical Service has had some difficulties with response times, lack of daytime staffing, emergency vehicle maintenance, and billing collection.
With mutual aid agreements, surrounding services can cover some emergency calls.
Village officials are considering maintaining the EMS by hiring part-time staff along with utilizing the current volunteers to provide 24/7 coverage, or hiring an outside service such as Hanco or Life Star.
Either one of these options will require additional funding.
Village Council also is seeking input on the topic through a brief survey on the village website,
