Today is the deadline to purchase dog tags in Hancock County without penalty.
The 2014 dog license is $20 per dog until midnight today. After the deadline, the fee increases to $40 per dog.
A new feature on the Hancock County auditor’s website will allow homeowners to purchase the tags online at: http://auditor.co.hancock.oh.us. A link to the online registration is available under the “license” tab.
Online payments by credit card and debit card will include a $1.95 processing fee per transaction, not per dog. E-checks include a $2.95 processing fee per transaction.
The license will be mailed to the owner and address indicated online.
The new system will also include an online “lost dog search” to help reunite lost dogs and their owners. The search is also available on the auditor’s website under the license tab.
Tags may also still be purchased at the auditor’s office, located in the county courthouse, 300 S. Main St. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
For further information, contact the auditor’s office at 419-424-7017.
