Sports rehab center named after Julie Cole

Blanchard Valley Health System has renamed its rehabilitation and sports medicine center after Julie Cole, host of the Julie Cole Charity Golf Classic.
The hospital’s center will now be known as the Julie A. Cole Rehab & Sports Medicine Center, located at the West Cascades Professional Offices, 1721 Medical Boulevard, Suite B.
Cole, a former professional golfer, is the honorary chair of the Blanchard Valley Health Foundation’s Julie Cole Charity Golf Classic, an annual fundraising event for the Blanchard Valley Health System. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the event.
The outing has raised more than $2 million to support local charities and services such as Bridge Hospice, the Jane & Gary Heminger HeartCare Center and the Caughman Health Center.
“We are forever grateful for her generosity and are proud to rename our BVH Rehab & Sports Medicine services in her honor,” said Scott Malaney, president and CEO of Blanchard Valley Health System.
A Findlay native, Cole had an outstanding athletic career in high school, earning both basketball and golf scholarships to Ohio University. After graduating from college, she joined the amateur golf circuit, qualifying for the Ladies Professional Golf Association tour in 1985.
She became a member of the association’s Teaching and Club Professionals Division in 1991 and is designated an LPGA Top 50 Teacher. She has been inducted into the Hancock Sports Hall of Fame and received the Ohio University Lifetime Achievement Award.
She is currently the director of instruction and managing partner at the Dana Rader Golf School at Ballantyne Hotel and Lodge in Charlotte, N.C.
“I never expected to have a medical facility bear my name, and I am so honored. Hosting the Julie Cole Charity Golf Classic has been my pleasure. Findlay is a wonderful community and I am so proud to be able to give back to my hometown,” Cole said.
