Outdated text message causes some confusion

A text message sent out by Findlay Publishing Company’s InfoTxt service caused some confusion Wednesday night.
Because of computer problems experienced by a vendor that serves both Findlay Publishing Co. and WTOL-TV, an outdated text message was sent out late Wednesday, reporting that Findlay City Schools would be closed. The text message had been composed Wednesday morning, when the city schools really were closed, but was not sent out by the vendor until late Wednesday night to Verizon and some other mobile carriers.
Findlay Schools opened Thursday morning after a two-hour delay.
Findlay Publishing Co. was not aware that delivery of the text message had been delayed. Had it known, the company would have taken steps to avoid any confusion about whether Findlay Schools would be opening Thursday.
Findlay Publishing apologizes for the mixup.
