NORTH BALTIMORE — Starting today, Prism Propane Services of Ohio will provide energy-efficient electric heaters to the public at cost.
The propane supplier, at 1399 Business Park Drive South in North Baltimore, will be open from 8:30 a.m. to noon today. Interested people should call 877-887-7476 to reserve a heater before visiting.
Normal office hours will continue from Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Most local stores have stopped selling electric heaters because the season is nearly over, Prism Chief Operating Officer George Walton said.
Prism has worked with Menards in Findlay and The Andersons in Maumee to provide the heaters at cost, he said.
“We don’t want to see anyone in harm’s way during these persisting sub-zero temperatures,” Walton said.
Prism offered the heaters to its customers soon after Gov. John Kasich declared a state of energy emergency. More information on available heating units can be found at prismpropane.com and on the Prism Propane Facebook page.
Prism and other propane suppliers in the region are still struggling to obtain propane for customers. The fuel is in short supply in 24 states.
Prism said it is continuing to form partnerships with distributors outside Ohio to transport propane gas to its storage facilities.
Prism customers also are being urged to conserve propane.
Prism is a subsidiary of Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative.
