Weekend: Red Cross catches a fever … Disco Fever

The American Red Cross of Hancock County is once again bringing all the glitz and glamour of a Hollywood party to Hancock County, with the fifth annual KeyBank Oscar Night gala, presented by Reineke Family Dealerships. KeyBank Oscar Night takes place on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Findlay Inn and Conference Center.
Executive Director Todd James says guests can expect everything that has made KeyBank Oscar Night one of the popular events in the community.
“Fantastic food from the area’s best chefs, music and dancing, auctions of unique items and a celebration of Hollywood’s best “” that’s what we present each year and it just gets bigger and better,” James says.
The theme this year, according to James, is Oscar Night Fever. “When you look at movies that have had the biggest impact on pop culture, one of the biggest was ‘Saturday Night Fever.’ It launched the career of John Travolta and made disco the most popular music of the ’70s. So this year, we’re celebrating Oscar Night with a star studded disco party!”
James says the elements that make Oscar Night so successful are all still in place “” great food, music, dancing and fun. Food for the event will be provided by Findlay’s top chefs; Chef Chris Koerner of the Findlay Inn, Chef Tim Cooper of Birchaven Village, Chef Geoff Wedwalt of the Findlay Country Club and Chef Tara Hughes of Taste by Tara. Dessert and coffee will be provided by Buggy Whip Bakery, Colenie Cakes, Anne Hermiller Cheesecakes and Coffee Amici. There will be live and silent auctions, featuring several unique items including a “Saturday Night Fever” soundtrack album signed by John Travolta and the Bee Gees, a pink guitar autographed by Taylor Swift, and an autographed picture of the cast of “Duck Dynasty,” artwork by local artist Phil Sugden and more.
State Sen. Cliff Hite will be hosting the event as “Tony Manero.”
Tickets for this year’s KeyBank Oscar Night are $100 each and include all food and drinks, according to James. Tables for eight guests can be reserved for $850 and half-tables for four guests for $425. Tickets and table reservations are available at the Hancock County Red Cross office, 125 Fair St. in Findlay, online at or by phone at 419-422-9322.
James credits the volunteer planning team for KeyBank Oscar Night’s success. “We have an outstanding group of people giving their time and talents to make this a fun evening for everyone and a success for the Hancock County Red Cross. We can’t thank them enough!” Mike Epps of KeyBank, a member of the Hancock County Red Cross board of directors is serving as chair of the planning committee.
