FOR THE COURIER
A member of the Reineke Family Dealerships will file as a Republican write-in candidate today to represent the 88th District in the House of Representatives.
Bill Reineke, son of dealership founder William Reineke Sr., announced he will seek the Republican nomination for the 88th district state representative position held by Rep. Rex Damschroder, R-Fremont.
This announcement came less than a week after Damschroder withdrew his candidacy for re-election after discovering clerical errors in his petition.
“For the last 30 years, I have been involved with retailing in Seneca County and have consistently and enthusiastically supported Tiffin and Seneca County to make our community a better place to live and work,” Reineke said in a news release. “It is my intent to work as hard for the 88th district to ensure the proper representation that we deserve to promote economic growth.”
With a win in the upcoming primary election, Reineke would be the Republican nominee for November’s general election.
Damschroder officially withdrew his candidacy for re-election after missing one signature on his petition. In a Friday interview with the Review Times, Damschroder said he is also exploring the option of running as a write-in candidate.
All write-in candidates for the election must be filed by Feb. 24.
