In preparation for its downtown campus expansion, Marathon Petroleum Corp. is requesting that the city allow it to permanently close some roadways.
On Findlay City Council’s agenda today are the company’s initial requests to vacate portions of two streets and an alley that traverse the existing campus.
It is asking to close East Hardin Street from South Main to East streets; Beech Avenue from East Sandusky to East Hardin streets; and the north/south alley from East Hardin to East Lincoln streets that is located behind the former Elks and RCM Architects buildings.
Findlay’s Planning Commission and City Council’s Planning and Zoning Committee will give initial consideration to the requests.
Marathon is also expected to request some temporary parking changes and street closures at today’s Traffic Commission meeting.
On the agenda is a request to temporarily close East Street from Sandusky to a half-block south, and to remove the two-hour parking restriction for all spaces around the campus’ perimeter and interior streets.
The company wants both changes to last through the end of the year.
