An unknown number of sheep were killed in a barn fire Wednesday morning near Mount Blanchard. According to the homeowner, Rob Craine, the sheep were his children’s 4-H project. No people were injured. Delaware Township firefighters were called around 8:30 a.m. to the blaze at 18055 Hancock County 162, near Mount Blanchard. The fire was exinguished by about 11:20 a.m., according to the fire department. The fire caused about $60,000 worth of damage to the barn, according to the fire department. It was blamed on a heat lamp that was placed in the barn to keep the sheep warm. Vanlue firefighters also assisted at the scene.
