TIFFIN — New Riegel Sewer District customers will see a $20-per-month increase per dwelling unit on their next bill.
The Seneca County commissioners approved the increase Thursday.
The cost will be $264 per quarter, up from $204 now, but less than a previously projected $100 quarterly increase. Cost savings reduced the size of the increase.
New Riegel’s sewage is treated at Fostoria, and sewage treatment costs have increased.
Treatment charges are expected to increase from $72,000 last year to a projected $80,000 this year, Seneca County Engineer Mark Zimmerman said earlier this week.
Separately, bids for repaving parking lots at the commissioners’ office, 111 Madison St., Tiffin, and the Seneca County Services Building, 71 S. Washington St., Tiffin, will be received until 10:30 a.m. April 29 in the commissioners’ office. The bids will be opened later that day.
The work is estimated at more than $162,000 and would be funded with Ottawa-Sandusky-Seneca Solid Waste Management District recycling money. Work on the Washington Street property was bid last year, but the bids were too high.
