Arcadia begins search for new treasurer

Staff Writer
ARCADIA — The Arcadia school board agreed Wednesday to start the process of finding a new treasurer for the school district.
In February, Treasurer Melissa Patch announced her intention to step down on July 31. She has served as treasurer since 2009.
The board agreed to meet at 6 p.m. Monday in closed executive session to discuss the position.
In other matters, school officials announced the first of two dates to collect aluminum cans to generate money for the school.
The collection will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. May 15 near the red barn at the school. Another collection date will be held this fall.
Sponsored by Ball Metal, the program provides dollars for the student activity fund, according to Arcadia Elementary Principal Dave Golden.
Last year, Arcadia School raised about $1,400 from the can collection, according to the principal.
Separately, the board approved an agreement with the Hancock County Educational Service Center to provide special education services for Arcadia during the 2014-15 school year.
The agreement was estimated at $153,362.
In other business, the school board:
• Held a closed executive session for the stated purpose of discussing personnel matters.
• Approved a supplemental contract for Kristan Dukat to be middle school track coach.
