The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office will be staffing extra patrol during the next couple of weekends in conjunction with prom activities at area high schools.
Patrols will be aimed at reducing traffic crashes, preventing underage alcohol consumption and drug abuse, and other issues that may occur with teenagers celebrating their high school prom.
The goal of the sheriff’s office extra patrol on the road during these times is for teenagers to have a safe and fun experience on what tends to be a memorable night of their high school years, according to the sheriff’s office.
The following prom dates are scheduled at local area high schools: May 3 (Arcadia), May 10 (Liberty-Benton, Van Buren, Vanlue and Findlay) and May 17 (Cory-Rawson and Riverdale).
The sheriff’s office encourages all to be “Safe and Sober” this prom season by buckling up, slowing down and saying “no” to alcohol and drugs.
