The University of Findlay continues to put together financing for its future lacrosse/football stadium.
Athletic Director Steven Rackley said Monday an announcement on stadium financing is expected to be made in the near future, and university officials hope work can start in early July.
The university is about a month behind where officials wanted to be in fundraising for the stadium, Rackley said. The university may reach its goal by the end of May or early June, he said.
The stadium project has an estimated cost of $7 to $8 million, according to the university’s website.
The stadium will be located on the current Kremer Field, behind the Koehler Fitness and Recreation Complex on campus. It will become the home of the university football team, which will take the field in fall 2015, and the women’s lacrosse team, which will begin using the field in spring 2015.
It will have 5,000 seats, 700 of which will have seat backs. The stadium will also have locker rooms beneath it, a two-story press box, and five suites for viewing games, according to the university. The stadium will also feature two oil derricks, one flying the UF logo and another holding a digital video board.
