The sounds of bells will fill the Dock at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 17, when the Old Millstream Ringers handbell ensemble presents its spring concert, “The Magical Music of Disney.” The Dock is located at 800 S. Main St. in Findlay.
The free concert will feature music from some of the most beloved Disney films from “Aladdin” to “Mary Poppins.” It is open to the public, and a free-will offering will be accepted.
The Old Millstream Ringers are a community handbell ensemble from Findlay and surrounding communities. It was formed in the summer of 2000 by Martha Avery, a retired music educator and avid handbell musician. The original group consisted of 13 musicians and a number of substitutes, many of whom still ring with the group today. A volunteer organization, the Old Millstream Ringers was formed to provide quality music for the community and beyond as well as education programs.
The ensemble is a nonprofit organization dedicated to excellence in ringing and to promoting musical education at all levels. In addition to public concerts, the Old Millstream Ringers participates in handbell festivals sponsored by the Handbell Musicians of America. They are also available for seasonal concerts, weddings, banquets and other occasions.
