Wyandot crash leaves one driver in critical condition

UPPER SANDUSKY — A Mount Victory driver remained in critical condition Monday following a two-car crash at the intersection of Ohio 53 and Wyandot County 44 at 5:10 p.m. Friday.
Rachel Eastman, 22, was hospitalized at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
Her passenger, Cory Menard, 24, of Kenton, was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The duo were transported to the Lima hospital by Life Flight helicopter.
According to the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office, Carl Scoles, 25, of rural Bluffton, was driving a Chrysler 300 on the county highway when he failed to stop for a stop sign, striking the driver’s door of Eastman’s Dodge Neon, which was traveling on Ohio 53.
Scoles was cited for failing to yield the right of way.
Upper Sandusky Emegency Medical Service also responded to the scene.
The accident report was released Monday.
