Deputies, troopers joining ‘Click It or Ticket’ campaign

Area law enforcement agencies will be participating in the 2014 “Click It or Ticket” campaign from Monday to June 1.
Lawmen will crack down on motorists who are not wearing seat belts or using an appropriate child restraint.
Participating agencies include the sheriff’s offices in Hancock, Putnam, Sandusky and Seneca counties, and the Fremont post of the State Highway Patrol.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office will kick off its part of the campaign at 11:15 a.m. Monday at the Ottawa McDonald’s, 777 N. Perry St.
The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office and the Fremont post of the highway patrol will launch the campaign at 10 a.m. Monday at the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, 3040 S. Ohio 100, Tiffin.
In 2013, 21,667 occupants of vehicles were killed in crashes nationwide, and 48 percent were not wearing seat belts.
Among those age 18 to 34 who were killed in those crashes, 56 percent were not buckled up.
