The Findlay City Schools’ Music Department will present the annual “Extravabandza” concert at the Allen P. Dudley Memorial Band Shell at Findlay’s Riverside Park on Tuesday, May 20 beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Performing for the concert are the Findlay High School Concert Band, Wind Ensemble and a special combined performance which includes eighth-grade students from Donnell and Glenwood middle schools.
The FHS Concert Band will be performing “Coney Island Rag,” “Tango Mariana” and “Valley Forge March.” Wind Ensemble selections will include “The Gallant Seventh,” “Scarborough Fair,” “Shenandoah” and “Concertino for Flute” by Cecile Chaminade, performed by senior flute player and National Arion Foundation award winner Victoria Fisher.
The 150-member FHS and eighth-grade combined band will close the concert with well-known movie themes by John Williams, including “Star Wars,” “Jurassic Park,” “ET” and “Harry Potter.”
The FHS Bands are directed by Tim Mattis and Dan Wilson.
The concert is free and open to the public. A free will donation will be collected to benefit the music department.
In the case of inclement weather, the Extravabandza concert will be held at the R.L. Heminger Auditorium at Findlay High School.
