The number of Findlay City Schools students who have not achieved the third-grade reading guarantee goal has dropped from 156 to 25.
The school district received results Tuesday from an alternative test called Terra Nova that effectively decreased the number of students who didn’t originally make the mark, Wittwer said. District officials are still waiting for results from the most recent Ohio Achievement Assessments, which they hope will lower the number even more.
The district will ask the remaining students to attend summer reading interventions from June 17 through July 10 from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, according to a proposal presented to the board on Monday. The students can then take the Ohio Achievement Assessment again on July 10.
