State updates highway projects

The Ohio Department of Transportation’s weekly report about construction and maintenance work on state highways in area counties:
Hancock County
The U.S. 224 interchange with Interstate 75 is being reconstructed. The project began in February and is expected to be completed late this fall.
• Both the northbound and southbound lanes of I-75 are narrowed and shifted approaching the U.S. 224 interchange.
• Lane restrictions on Interstate 75 will occur during nighttime hours one day of the week, likely today, for pavement repair.
• On June 2 and 3, short-term stops of traffic on Interstate 75 in both directions will occur while setting of bridge beams on the U.S. 224 structure occurs. The stops will occur generally between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. Both northbound and southbound traffic will be affected on the first night. Only northbound traffic will be affected the second night. Law enforcement will slow and stop traffic approaching the interchange and release traffic once each beam has been set. Traffic will be stopped for up to 20 minutes. Following the beam setting, lane restrictions will continue for the rest of that week both northbound and southbound for overhead work at the bridge. Restrictions will occur between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m.
• Traffic on the U.S. 224 bridge over Interstate 75 is traveling on the north half of the bridge, one lane in each direction with no turn lanes. All ramps at the interchange are currently open.
