McCOMB — McComb native and gospel music performer Randy Burnett will highlight this year’s Cookie Fest, which will be held Aug. 1-3 at the village park.
Burnett will perform at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 3.
Burnett moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 1970 to play with the Loretta Lynn Band. As part of that band and later as a solo performer, he has appeared on many programs, including Midnight Special, Ralph Emery Show, the Ed Sullivan Show, Hee Haw, Grand Ole Opry and Kraft Music Hall.
After touring with Loretta Lynn, he helped start another band and recorded several albums. One of his highlights was singing in the Billy Graham Choir in Nashville.
Burnett has served several churches in the Tennessee area over the years. He and his wife, Dottie, have worked with the Bridge Ministry to feed and clothe the homeless in Nashville.
During the festival, a fishing derby will be held beginning at 11 a.m. Aug. 3 at the park, sponsored by Pro Bass Shop and angler pro Craig Burwell.
The derby is open for all ages and prizes will be awarded.
On Aug. 2, a craft show will be held in a tent from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a $20 charge for an 8-foot by 10-foot exhibit space.
