Farewell to a school Demolition work began Monday on Findlay’s former St. Michael School, on Adams Street and Western Avenue. The school, owned by St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, has been empty for about two years and was damaged by a fire last year. The original school building was constructed in 1894, with additions coming in later years. When the rubble is cleared, the 3-acre property will be leased for two years by Alvada Construction, which will park equipment there during Marathon Petroleum Corp.’s downtown construction project. A video of the demolition can be seen at www.thecourier.com. (Photo by Randy Roberts)
