CAREY — A groundbreaking ceremony for the new Carey school, being constructed off South Vance Street, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the site.
If there is rain, the ceremony will be held in the high school gymnasium.
The program will include comments from Superintendent Mike Wank, Carey school board President Mike Roszman, Carey Mayor Steve Smalley, and Ron Dunn, executive director of the Carey Area Chamber of Commerce.
Also, a representative of Fanning/Howey, the Celina-based architect company designing the building, or Gilbane Building Co., the Rhode Island-based company serving as general contractor, will address the crowd. The contractor has offices in Cleveland and Columbus.
The program, scheduled to last 40 minutes, also will include the high school band, Jessica Wyatt singing the national anthem, a balloon launch by students, and ceremonial pictures.
