McComb funeral home changes hands

McCOMB — A Findlay funeral home has purchased the Hartley Funeral Home in McComb.
Lehtomaa Funeral Home in Findlay is the new owner, and will operate the Hartley-Lehtomaa Funeral Home at 370 Park Drive South in McComb.
Joann and Brent Hartley sold the McComb funeral home, retiring after 48 years of the Hartley family owning the facility.
The purchase price was not released.
An open house at the McComb funeral home will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 14.
Richard and Joann Hartley purchased the Harmon Funeral Home on West Main Street in McComb in January 1966, before buying the Jones Funeral Home on East Main Street in August that same year. The Hartleys then combined the two.
They obtained the Fred Byal farm on Ohio 186 (Park Drive South) to build a funeral home that opened in January 1972.
The Hartleys’ son, Brent, joined the business in 1988 as a licensed funeral home director and embalmer.
Richard Hartley died in 1998, and Joann and Brent Hartley have continued the business.
In a statement this week, the Hartleys said they “welcome the Lehtomaas with open arms as they know that the business will be maintained in the same caring and professional manner that it has been for the last 48 years.”
The phone number of the funeral home is 419-293-3552.
Lehtomaa Funeral Home, at 201 Osborn Ave. in Findlay, is owned by Steve and Susi Lehtomaa.
Before buying the former Routson Funeral Chapel in Findlay, Steve Lehtomaa worked at funeral homes in Bowling Green and Perrysburg, managed the Miller Funeral Home in Wauseon, and was director of Walker Mortuary in Napoleon.
