Prism Propane plans controlled burn

NORTH BALTIMORE — Prism Propane Services of Ohio, in North Baltimore, will flare its nearly emptied, 30,000-gallon tanks in a controlled burn about 9 a.m. today.
The safety precaution is being taken prior to moving the tanks to the west of the offices at 1399 Business Park Drive South, North Baltimore.
“We expect to see a flame rise 10 to 25 feet above the propane tanks from the relief valve. Although flaring is an impressive sight, Prism doesn’t want to see anyone in harm’s way during this procedure,” said George Walton, chief operating officer of Prism Propane Services.
“Prism has alerted local fire departments to the flaring, which is expected to take several days, and the driveway will be blocked to normal traffic.”
