The community is invited to hear accomplished singer-songwriter and guitarist Nelson Emokpae on Friday, Aug. 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the University of Findlay’s Alumni Memorial Union atrium.
Performing as part of the university’s “Music Bach’s” series, Emokpae (also known as “Nelly”) draws on his multi-cultural background and experience to tell his story in music and lyrics. His skillful blend of soul, reggae and blues, coupled with tremendous vocal abilities, transports the listener into the musical story being told.
A performer on season three of “The Voice,” as a member of Christina Aguilera’s team, Nelly has been compared to Seal and Sting with a little John Mayer thrown in. He mixes calypso, Afro-beat and a lot of soul into a winning and charming style.
“Music Bach’s” is presented by the University of Findlay’s Campus Program Board, a student-led group that strives to bring high-quality, diverse entertainment to campus.
A 25-year tradition, “Music Bach’s” features live music performed by musicians from around the world.
