UF homecoming kicks off Friday

The University of Findlay will celebrate its homecoming and family weekend Friday through Sunday.

The weekend begins with a football game at 7 p.m. Friday at Donnell Stadium against Kentucky Wesleyan College.

During the game, the homecoming court will be announced, and the 2017 Distinguished Alumni and award recipients will be honored.

The Marching Oiler Brass alumni will perform with the band during pre-game and halftime.

General admission is $5. Those 5 and younger, and 65 and older, will get in for free. Tickets will be available at the gate Friday.

A 5K run/walk to benefit the American Heart Association and the UF Academy of Student Pharmacists will start at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Fees to participate are $20 for the general public and $10 for UF students with a valid ID.

Registration will begin at 7:15 a.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union, and a T-shirt will be provided.

The Alumni Association Annual Breakfast follows at 9 a.m. in Winebrenner Theological Seminary. The cost is $10 per person, $5 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for children 5 and under. Registration is required.

From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, open houses for the university’s six different colleges will be held. Deans and current faculty members will be available. The Mazza Museum also will be open for tours.

The weekend ends with a worship service in Winebrenner Theological Seminary at 10 a.m. Sunday.
