Thomas Lause has been named the University of Findlay’s vice president of business affairs, chief financial officer and treasurer.
Lause, who recently retired from Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. as vice president and treasurer, will begin his new role on Feb. 5.
“He is an exceptional financial officer and fiscal leader. His business experience and passion for our mission will make him a great asset to the University of Findlay team,” university President Katherine Fell said.
Lause said he is looking forward to professionally transitioning to higher education.
“Having lived in Findlay for over 30 years, I know how important the University of Findlay is to our community,” he said.
Lause had a 35-year career at Cooper. Since 2015, he was the company’s chief financial officer and treasurer, with responsibility for overseeing global treasury operations, risk management and taxes.
Lause began working for Cooper in 1983 as a plant accountant in the Tire Division, then served in a series of positions in Findlay and Texarkana, Arkansas. From 2002 to 2014 Lause was vice president, finance and global operations controller.
He earned a master of business administration and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bowling Green State University. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame’s Executive Leadership Program.
Lause serves on the Ohio Manufacturers Association board, Bowling Green State University’s College of Business advisory board, and is a board member and Finance Committee chair for the Findlay-Hancock County Chamber of Commerce and The Alliance economic development organization.
He is a past board director and treasurer of United Way of Hancock County.
