The Hancock County commissioners on Thursday approved four ditch maintenance projects totaling more than $31,000. Property owners will be assessed for the work.
Kramer Excavating and Drainage, Findlay, will do two of the projects: the Oil Single County Ditch for about $9,057, and the Hartman Shull Ditch for about $3,102.
Boes Brothers, Fostoria, will do the other two maintenance projects: Harold Shaffer Ditch, about $11,956; and Glauner Ditch, for about $8,272.
Also, county Auditor Charity Rauschenberg said the ballot language for the 1.2-mill, 10-year levy on the May ballot will state that the levy revenue will supplement the county general fund. But the money would go into a restricted fund, and could only be used to benefit adult protective services, child protective services, and child care within the Department of Job and Family Services.
Cindy Land, assistant county prosecutor, said state law requires language that the levy revenue will “supplement the general fund.”
Commissioner Mark Gazarek said it would be similar to levies previously approved for the Hancock Park District and the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library. Those funds are earmarked for those specific agencies.
The commissioners also held an executive session Thursday to discuss potential real estate acquisition.
