ONU plans multiple commencements

ADA — Ohio Northern University will hold commencement exercises this Sunday and Sunday, May 20.

All ceremonies will be in the ONU Sports Center Field House with ONU President Daniel DiBiasio presiding.

Approximately 623 students are earning degrees from the university this academic year, including 148 from the College of Pharmacy, 388 from other undergraduate colleges and 87 from the College of Law.

Raabe College of Pharmacy commencement exercises will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday. Doors will open at 7:30 a.m.

The student speaker will be Austin Hilverding of Waterford. The keynote speaker will be Timothy Tracy, a 1983 graduate of the College of Pharmacy who is chief executive officer at Aprecia Pharmaceuticals.

The undergraduate and MSA ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m.

The undergraduate speaker will be Courtney Cramer, a graduating business administration major from Alvada. Carey A. (Wurgler) Smith, a 1985 ONU graduate in electrical engineering who has more than 30 years of experience in the aerospace and defense industry, will deliver the keynote address.

Smith is president of the Federal Business Unit at Parsons Corp., a defense, security, engineering and infrastructure firm.

Honorary degrees will be presented to longtime ONU faculty members Alfred Cohoe and Terry Keiser, who are retiring.

The Pettit College of Law commencement exercises will be held at 2 p.m. May 20. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m.

Emily Kerber of Lima will be the student speaker. Jessica Price Smith, a 1997 graduate of the ONU College of Law, will deliver the keynote address. She serves as a judge in U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of Ohio.
