Hancock, Wyandot jobless rates drop below 3 percent

Hancock and Wyandot counties were tied in April for the state’s fifth-lowest unemployment rate, 2.9 percent, in April.

Hancock County’s jobless rate declined from 3 percent in March. Wyandot County’s rate was 3.1 percent in March.

Unemployment rates declined in 85 of Ohio’s 88 counties in April.

Jobless rates in other neighboring counties in April, with March rates in parentheses, were: Allen, 4 percent (4.2 percent); Hardin, 3.6 (3.8); Henry, 4.7 (5.4); Putnam, 3 (3.2); Seneca, 3.9 (4.1); Wood, 3.5 (3.6).

The statewide unemployment rate, which is seasonally adjusted, declined to 4.3 percent in April from 4.4 percent in March.
