Carey principal gets new contract

CAREY — Carey school board this week approved a five-year contract extension for junior/senior high Principal Peter Cole, effective from July 2019 through June 2024.

Cole will begin his 12th year with the school district this fall. His salary for the 2018-2019 school year will be $97,268.

The district sets salaries based on the state average for each administrative position, and then on the average statewide rate increase from two years previously, said Treasurer Karen Phillips.

Separately, the board approved the annual property and liability insurance policy for $29,777 through Matt Green, with United Insurance Services.

Last year, the district paid $31,358 for the insurance.

Also, the board approved various supplemental contracts for fall, winter and spring activities for both teaching and non-teaching staff.

The contracts involve more than 60 individuals.
